Northallerton & District Angling Club
Northallerton Angling Club Waters
RIVER SWALE LENGTHS
The Club controls what is arguably one of the best stretches of the River Swale starting upstream of Scruton village on the Bedale side of the river and ending at the end of the first field below Morton road bridge. Access to this water is via the sewage works lane at Scruton and also the road bridge car park at Morton on Swale.

On the Northallerton side of the river above Morton we control from above Thrintoft village again down to Morton road bridge. Access is available from the roadside just out of Thrintoft as well as the road bridge car park again.

Our waters downstream of Morton on Swale road bridge comprise the first field on the Bedale side of the river, some superb sport with chub under far bank cover. On the opposite, Northallerton side of the river, we control two seperate stretches. The top length runs from the bridge downstream from the road bridge to the first fence, around 1/2 mile. Access from the road bridge car park. The lower length is at Far Fairholme, accessed by following Potters Lane to its end. Parking at the farm at Far Fairholmeon the grassed area opposite the house. This stretch is around 1.5 miles in length running from the top of the Bailey Bridge field to the limit where How Beck enters the Swale.

CARTHORPE PONDS

Situated just outside the village of Carthorpe near Bedale, the Club also own a mixed fishery stillwater, comprising two ponds. The fishery has undergone works over the past couple of years to improve the bankside pathways as well as clearing some of the margin trees. Good sport can be had with roach, bream, tench and crucian carp. Although night fishing is NOT PERMITTED at the ponds, eels do feature in daytime catches occasionally.
